Rescued to the rescue

Tony Minns, Robert Zoutenbier and Ryan Hiscox who were rescued by the RACQ Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service (CHRS) after floating with their esky for 15 hours are now repaying the favour.

They are sharing their story and currently featuring in a new media campaign "TARGET 10000" to encourage 10,000 Central Queenslanders to support the vital life saving service through payroll deduction.

Robert said "We are only too happy to help out and tell our story. After all we wouldn't be here if it wasn't for the Capricorn Rescue chopper."

"It's hard to put into words how you feel when you see the helicopter winch a rescuer over the side. We'd been floating for 15 hours in 4 metre swells in the middle of winter with jellyfish stinging us all night. It's not something I want to repeat.

"They saved our lives and prevented a terrible tragedy for our families and friends. Now they need our help and we're more than happy to support them" said Robert.

"If you can spare two dollars a week to help save someone's life, please help. It's pretty cheap insurance to ensure the service is available to save the life of someone you know and love.

"Everyday people need this service everyday" said Kay Becker, Executive Officer of RACQ CHRS

"We are really grateful to Tony, Robert and Ryan and their families for sharing their experience and helping others to recognise that this service is necessary and rescues local people on a daily basis."
