Rescue 300 team demonstrate priority

Crowds at last Sunday's RescUresponse Day witnessed first hand the rapid response of the Rescue 300 team as they were called away at the eleventh hour to a task at Agnes Waters.

Executive Officer Kay Becker said "Responding to a task at the eleventh hour demonstrates the priorities of the service, the public will always come first."

With some minor rescheduling the new logo launch proved a resounding success with the crowd enjoying a variety of entertainment until 'Flipper' as the helicopter is affectionately known, returned to demonstrate the versatility of the helicopter and her crew.

Well over a thousand people made their way to Paradise Lagoons, which was kindly donated by Graeme and Jenny Acton for the event.

"The generosity of local organizations and businesses has allowed us to hold this event, not only to celebrate the launch of our new logo but to educate people on safety related issues" said Kay Becker.

"Our hope is that these displays will in some way educate people to be more safety conscious and hopefully avoid some of the tragic accidents that we have to attend."

Demonstrations included the Snake Handler and responsible epirb handling by the Yeppoon Water Police. The day also included a wide variety of entertainment, market stalls, prizes and giveaways.
