In life and death situations it's comforting to know the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service is available 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year. The service provides rapid deployment of medical or rescue teams to major accidents, incidents or search and rescue operations.

The Service is free to all people within Central Queensland at any time. Skilled pilots transport highly trained team direct to any emergency. It's the quickest way to get help to trauma victims. Sometimes it's their only chance of survival.

A vehicle accident on some isolated Central Queensland roads could leave injured persons hours from treatment. The Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service is not hampered by distance and rapidly transports medical teams right to the patient's side increasing their chances of survival.

Whether in the bush, at sea or on a remote mine site the rescue helicopter can land and board injured or lost patients. Rescue personnel reassure victims and prepare them to be airlifted to safety. Helicopters are particularly suited to searching for lost people due to their slow hovering speed and ability to fly low to the ground. The Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service can be quickly mobilized during a search and rescue operation.

Our regional hospitals provide excellent care, but they are not equipped to handle all types of treatment. The Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service acts as an airborne intensive care unit to transfer critically ill or injured patients to a hospital where they can get the treatment they need. When time is crucial the Capricorn Helicopter Rescue Service is a vital link in the emergency response.
